Do you have any tips for just isolating the stomach muscles? I am on week 3 and I automatically do a kegel as I pull the transverse muscle in during the contraction and I am still feeling really tense in my shoulders… also what types of pelvic tilts do you rec? thanks! awesome results by them way!

Hi Janarae18! The transverse automatically works the kegel mucsle, or pubococcygeus muscle, in conjuction with the transverse – consider it killing “2 birds with one stone” so to speak.

And tension in the shoulders in normal at first because of the weak transverse – it is asking other muscles for help – try to calm them as you work the transverse.

STanding pelvic tilts, hands above knees pelvic tilts, and (after you have a good mind-body connection of the transverse) then pelvic tilt while on your back.

    Good luck!!

Thanks! So is it ok to work the kegel mucsle then? Is the tupler pushing technique different than the technique to close the diastasis recti? Is that when you try to seperate the kegel mucsle from the transverse? Thanks!

    Hi!
Postnatal – you will work the transverse and “kegel” muscle simultaneously because the transverse naturally works that muscle at the same time, along with the lower lumbar, the recti, and the diaphragm.

Prenatal – while pregnant, you work the transverse and “kegel” muscle separately. The reason is that when it is time to push, you bring the transverse to the spine and relax and open the pelvic floor. This needs to be practiced all during labor because you can’t teach someone a new skill while they are in pain (labor).

wow that’s great results. i was looking through your blog. and i was wondering about the “pooch” us women get after baby. I understand it is bc of stretched out connective tissues. but do our organs hang low too?
-and what about the “flap over” that we get when we wear jeans, or when we sit/bend over. will the tupler tech. fix that flap over?

my other comment must have not posted. :\ I was asking about the pooch us moms have after baby. i understand its due to stretched out connective tissue and laxity of muscle. do our organs get pushed forward also? and the flap -over that we get when we sit or bend over…can the tupler tech. help???

Hi April! On the right hand side of the site, if you scroll down, you will see various DVDs for sale. If you are pregnant, I would get the Prenatal Pilates DVD, if you are Postpartum (no matter how long!) I would get the Lose Your Mummy Tummy DVD.

For the other questions – YES!! The organs bulge OUT with no muscles or bones to hold everything in – they become malaligned as well. With ALL those things, and the “flap-over” -the Tupler Technique DEFINITLEY helps all of those!!!
